Co-Vo Fundamentals > Warming Up and Cooling Down
Warming Up and Cooling Down
Why do singers warm up? What should a good vocal warmup include? How long should it take before I feel “warmed up”? What happens if I skip my warmup and go straight to repertoire practice or to rehearsal?
What is a vocal cooldown and why should I start doing one?
This 45-minute vocal workout—delivered live, via Zoom—will answer these questions, while exploring how you can both warm up and cool down your voice quickly, completely, and effectively. You will learn:
The four elements of a singer’s “pre-flight checklist”
The technical skills every good warm-up routine should include
What it means when it takes a long time to feel warmed up
The three elements of an effective vocal cooldown
Remember, practice makes permanent. To improve your vocal warmup and cooldown routines, we invite you to repeat this workout often. Every Warming Up and Cooling Down workout is different, while focusing on the same set of fundamental skills.
